The NRL round 19 team lists have been released, with the Brisbane Broncos receiving a significant boost as veteran utility Ben Hunt returns from injury. Hunt, sidelined for almost two months, is set to don the No.9 jumper for the Broncos, marking Coach Michael Maguire’s favored starting spine lineup with Adam Reynolds, Ezra Mam, and Reece Walsh also named to start.
In other team news, Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo has decided to stick with Matt Burton and Toby Sexton as the club’s starting halves pairings. Meanwhile, the Panthers have rested their State of Origin stars, with all of them named in the extended squad.
Looking ahead to the NRL premiership matches, the Cronulla Sharks are set to face off against the Dolphins at Sharks Stadium, with just one change in the Sharks lineup. The Dolphins, on the other hand, will see Sean O’Sullivan move into the No.6 jumper as they prepare to take on the Sharks.
Over at McDonald Jones Stadium, the Newcastle Knights will go head-to-head with the Melbourne Storm, with Fletcher Hunt named as the starting fullback for the Knights in the absence of the injured Kalyn Ponga. The Storm, on the other hand, have named their Queensland State of Origin representatives on the extended bench.
At Jubilee Stadium, the St George Illawarra Dragons will take on the Sydney Roosters, with Valentine Holmes set to make a return for the Dragons after the Origin decider. The Roosters, meanwhile, will see Sam Walker back in action after recovering from injuries.
Later in the evening, the North Queensland Cowboys will clash with the Canterbury Bulldogs at Queensland Country Bank Stadium, with both teams looking to secure a crucial victory. The Cowboys’ Origin stars are expected to back up, while the Bulldogs will see Marcelo Montoya sidelined due to a neck injury.
On Sunday, the Warriors will face the Wests Tigers at Go Media Stadium, with Dallin Watene-Zelezniak making an early return from injury for the Warriors. The Tigers, led by Adam Doueihi in the centres, will be looking to put up a strong performance against the Warriors.
Lastly, the Gold Coast Titans will host the Brisbane Broncos at Cbus Super Stadium in what promises to be an exciting matchup. David Fifita returns from an ankle injury for the Titans, while the Broncos will see their first-choice spine lineup in action for the first time this season.
